Yoshitomo Nara Meets Nick Cave

This series of drawings was made initially to be bound as a set of original drawings. Then after planning a solo show at Kirra Hill I decided to have them made into a slide show. These are two creative individuals who inspire me immensely. Yoshitomo Nara is a contemporary Japanese visual artist who I met while working at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney in 2001. The Japanese interpreter there organised a drawing swap between me and Nara. Since then I have collected books on his art and followed his career with eager joy. Nick Cave is an Australian musician, artist and writer of novels and screenplays. I discovered Nick Cave and his band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in 1994 and a few years after the release of his album: The Good Son that features the amazing song the Ship Song. By bringing together these two artists in intuitive drawings I have followed the immense impact they have had on my psyche and art.
