Today when Yannick arrives, I am going to do a video/photo shoot of me wearing first white converse all-star sneakers holding a box with a small cardboard building structure in it and then change my shoes to black Converse all-star and then go through a series of black ink Converse drawings on grocery bags in front of my chest one by one.
The small building made of cardboard is sort of an analogy for my apartment where I live: eating, sleeping, drawing and writing.
This sculpture on the beach on a, IKEA trestle table is similar to the one at the beginning of this Converse shoot. The beach is also my meditation space but lately I have been swimming laps instead as my foot was sore and I find swimming more, gentle on my body.
I like the branding all-star as I feel no human is an island and we are all part of a local and global community.
I have been wearing Converse sneakers for decades and using them in my art a lot too wearing them in shoots or in installations.
In the shoot I am wearing: white and black Converse, blue Levi jeans, a white 2XL Kmart t-shirt, and Kmart black socks TEMU hat and clear Swatch Watch.
