“Never see a need without doing something about it,” to “Love one another, bear with one another,” and to “Teach more by example than by word,”
Mary Mackillop
These quotes are by the Catholic saint Mary Mackillop and her and Saint Francis are my favourite saints.
“Mary Helen MacKillop RSJ (in religion Mary of the Cross; 15 January 1842 – 8 August 1909) was an Australian religious sister. She was born in Melbourne but is best known for her activities in South Australia. Together with Fr Julian Tenison-Woods, she founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (the Josephites), a congregation of religious sisters that established a number of schools and welfare institutions throughout Australia and New Zealand, with an emphasis on education for the rural poor.”
The process to have MacKillop declared a saint began in the 1920s, and she was beatified in January 1995 by Pope John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI prayed at her tomb during his visit to Sydney for World Youth Day 2008 and in December 2009 approved the Catholic Church’s recognition of a second miracle attributed to her intercession.”

The reason I like MacKillop so much is by studying the wisdom of her quotes particularly about working with altruism when one sees a need.
My favourite Saint Francis quote is:
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
Francis of Assisi
I find this is the most motivational quotes I have ever read and I have included it many times in my essays and ten drawings a day project on loose leaf paper and in sketchbooks.
“Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone (c. 1181–3 October 1226), known as Francis of Assisi, was an Italian[d] mystic, poet and Catholic friar who founded the religious order of the Franciscans. Inspired to lead a Christian life of poverty, he became a beggar[7] and an itinerant preacher.
One of the most venerated figures in Christianity, Francis was canonized by Pope Gregory IX on 16 July 1228. He is commonly portrayed wearing a brown habit with a rope tied around his waist, featuring three knots symbolizing the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience.”

Last year I made a zine about the teachings of lots of different Christian saints not just Mary MacKillop and Saint Francis and it was titled: The Saints/ Never see a need without doing something about it. Mary MacKillop.
In conclusion while writing my new book: Spiritualism in Art and Life I want to expand my knowledge of the teachings of the saints and of many other topics within this field.
