“The love that comes from friendship is the underlying facet of a happy life.”
Chelsea Handler.
This multimedia exhibition at Kirra Hill is a mixture of video, drawing, photography, installation and sculpture. As in the opening quote it ruminates on the ideas of platonic love but also humour and the nature of friendship.
There is lots of big unframed A0 photos (around ten but I shall choose the best eight maybe while setting up) and two videos one a video of three white plaster sculptures on a trestle table on the beach and the second video a slideshow of many images of my art from 1993 at art school to 2025.
There is, also installations with lots of converse all-star high tops and neon’s. I like the branding all-star as I feel everybody is part of a family, a group of friends or a community.
I also am showing ten sketchbooks with drawings from my ten drawings a day project, two boxes with lights and a black and white converse all-star in each and white on black drawings of Mary MacKillop and Saint Francis of how they would look if they were alive today.
Also a red chthonian neon and two big black and white drawings with converse and text and Mary MacKillop and Saint Francis portraits and two hand drawn T-shirts that I wore in recent performances and my latest zine is called chthonian. Chthonian is an ancient Greek word surrounding the cult of Dionysus and means from the bowels of the earth.
Also a plaster sculpture called High IQ which is a simple geometric shape with a white neon on it with the text lateral thinking, a word coined by the intellectual Edward De Bono about thinking outside the box to solve complex problems. This sculpture is on a wooden IKEA trestle table and I made this sculpture for a practical use to balance my small smart TV on so I can watch it from my bed and that’s why I called it High IQ as it is the base for a smart TV.
The following quote by Edward De Bono shows how lateral thinking works.
“Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.
The following quote by Edward De Bono is about the importance of having a sense of humour and in my book kind humour diffuses complex situations when things heat up.
“Humour is by far the most significant activity of the human brain.”
“We must teach more by example than by word. “
Mary MacKillop

I love this quote by my favourite female saint Mary Mackillop who was Australian as it shows how platonic love works. Portraits of her appear in many of my works in this show but mainly in the ten sketchbooks from my ten drawings a day project but most days its twenty drawings.
In conclusion I hope you get to see my show but if not look out for it on the Internet.
