“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style.”
Maya Angelou
This morning I got up at eight and got a coffee at the local cafe while waiting for Yannick to arrive and did ten black art line 200 drawings in a square brown paper Kmart sketchbook and the last was a converse shoe and leg in brown watercolour.
“I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures.”
Lao Tzu
I love this quote by Lao Tzu and feel that patience in particular from these three attributes is the essence of saints like Mary MacKillop and Saint Francis.
Then I finished watching a movie from last night on Netflix and then had a three hour nap and then did two twenty minute walks by the beach and then another fifteen black ink and brush drawings on the woollies brown paper bags that Yannick got my groceries in this morning before and after the walks.
Sean Cordeiro sent a photo of him with his partner Claire Healy at the art gallery of New South Wales today both in red at the opening of the two art art prizes that go with the Archibald the Wynn and Sulman so I shot the following video of some of today’s drawings with my iPhone and sent it to him. I think their first work was a finalist in the Wynne prize.
The ink drawings I did this afternoon feature drawings of converse shoes with text, portraits of Mary MacKillop and Saint Francis and one portrait of my late mum.
In conclusion I feel the branding of Chuck Taylor Converse sums up the vibe of this video and that it is All-Star as I feel everyone is part of a team, a family and or a group of friends.
