Bridges and Stairways/ Intuitive Thinking: A Book of Drawings for a Secret New York Museum Project

Compassion definition is a social emotion that arises when you witness suffering and are motivated to help relieve it. In this book of drawings, I did a drawing of Saint Francis of Assisi, and in the drawing, he was how I imagined him if he was alive today holding a compassion neon and wearing a t-shirt, jeans and Converse sneakers. In my books I feel he is the most compassionate person who has ever lived.

I also did a drawing of Mary MacKillop Australia’s saint with the definition of altruism and how I imagined how she would look if she was alive today holding an altruism neon and wearing Converse sneakers.

Altruism definition: is the unselfish concern for the well-being of others.

In this book there are also self-portraits and drawings of Converse shoes and drawings of my art, and I tried to use different drawing tools to mix it up.

Getting ready to go away for an art project.

I did two hours of beach walking today and I want to get back to how I was about three years ago. I’ve put on quite a bit of weight despite my vegetarian diet and regular exercise.

“A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows.”

Francis of Assisi

I love this quote by Saint Francis, and it speaks to me as I felt a single sunbeam from him drove away my many shadows while beach walking today in hindsight while listening to pop music and the ocean waves in the background.

How I look now after putting on quite a bit of weight. I must wear baggy clothes now.

“Love one another, bear with one another, and let charity guide you in all your life.”

Mary MacKillop quote, about the nature of altruism.

In my drawings I often allude to bridges and stairways as ways for people to metaphorically come together and be kind to one another.

In the title of this post, I also talk about Intuitive thinking to solve complex problems similarly to the notion of lateral thinking coined by Edward De Bono.

“Intuition will tell the thinking mind where to look next.”

 Jonas Salk

I like this quote by Salk, and I feel the same as when I feel lost, it’s my intuition that guides me on the darkest days.

“Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns to look at things in a different way. “

Edward de Bono

This quote by Edward De bono shows how creativity and lateral thinking work together to solve complex problems.

In conclusion, I apologize as many of the drawings are a bit fuzzy around the edges as it’s difficult to scan drawings properly when in a sketchbook and most drawings look a bit odd as when I cropped out the fuzz, they have a strangecomposition.
