Today me and Yannick did a photo video shoot and I called it Brain Calories after as I was talking with Yannick about how after a big creative project like me writing 61 essays for my next book called Spiritualism in Art and Life that you have severe mental and physical fatigue and this idea came from my sculpture lecturer Bonita Ely who said after a solo show she would collapse in exhaustion. I haven’t collapsed in exhaustion but pretty close to it. I have been slowly powering down like turning off a computer. I say brain calories as I feel creative thinking burns a lot more mental calories than from rationale thinking. However, with my essays it’s a mix of rationale thinking and creative thinking but most days higher on the creative thinking side.
“Creativity is a great motivator because it makes people interested in what they are doing. Creativity gives hope that there can be a worthwhile idea. Creativity gives the possibility of some sort of achievement to everyone. Creativity makes life more fun and more interesting.”
Edward de Bono
I love this quote by Edward De Bono about creativity being a great motivator but I also think it’s even more beneficial when mixed with rationale thinking.
“Do be faithful in little things.”
Mary MacKillop
I love this quote by my favourite female saint Mary MacKillop and I think ones most important decisions are in the seemingly small things.
In conclusion the ideas in this shoot are quite simple the twenty-two drawings from today on cut up grocery bags mainly about the saints, the sketchbook with a sneaker: all-star/ Converse and the two bags with plaster doorways and all of them are about trying to find positive doorways in my mind.
