Self as Cocoon is very influenced by the fat and felt installations and sculptures of German artist Joseph Beuys. It also has a cavity in the chest area of the cocoon reminiscent of the artist Anish Kapoor . The void a reference to the inner peace found in meditation.

The cocoon is a reference to how human suffering can be overcome and transformed into peace and tranquility.
