The Ocean Room is the first video installation I made. It combines a simplified wooden building with stairs leading to a video image. It reflects a contemplative state of mind. I spent a lot of time in my bedroom in Avalon Sydney reading novels, writing, listening to music and drawing and surfing every day at the local beach.
The Ocean Room is a thinking space.
This time while remaking it I remade the video that went inside the original sculpture but this time the sculptural part is much smaller and made from plaster and gyprock rather than plywood and shall sit on a wooden IKEA trestle table.
I am still deciding if I shall have the video inside on a I Pad or use a video projector and projection screen and project the video out of the doorway of the sculpture onto the screen.
