Essay by Luke Foster
“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
Robin Williams
One of my favourite actors was Robin Williams and he was so genuine, funny and kind. My favourite movie he starred in was about the clown doctor Patch Adams called by his name. He first emerged as a talent to watch in the tv series Mork and Mindy. I have a connection to the Patch movie as I write to Patch Adams a lot and he always stitches up my problems with great love, compassion and humour. The thing that Patch has that I need is a close knit community of friends. Don’t get me wrong I love my circle of friends but I would love more.
“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” Robin Williams
Another of my favourite Robin Williams movies was Good Will Hunting with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Bon Jovi is one of my favourite singers and I was listening to Livin on a Prayer today on the bus today with my Sony headphones. When I lived in South Korea decades ago as an English teacher I used to sing his songs at the Norrie Barn or Karaoke rooms.
“Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you’ll see them all around you. “Jon Bon Jovi
Its funny as the style of Jon Bon Jovi’s hair do has come back in fashion with teenagers. The eighties look is cool again.
“Map out your future – but do it in pencil. The road ahead is as long as you make it. Make it worth the trip.” Jon Bon Jovi
