Essay by Luke Foster
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
Saint Francis of Assisi
I love this quote by Saint Francis and it kind of reminds me what my friends in America, my Australian protectors and the local and global community have taught me. However, to be honest as much as I love excellent security, I also feel safest when I have no enemies and try to patch up and differences I have with people. I also feel I am not doing the impossible but trying every day to be a better person.
“All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”
Abraham Lincoln
I love this quote by Lincoln and I felt the same way about my dear mother and still feel she is there with me in a sort of way.
For my friends in America, my Australian protectors and the global and local community you shall never know how much gratitude I have for you looking after me, educating me, humouring me and keeping me down to earth relatively. You are all angels and saints.
Also, I have heard that America gives more to the developing world than any other country which is an amazing feat. Australia is also very generous too at individual and government level as well.
In conclusion the following quote by the Dalai Lama sums up the kind of gratitude and compassion I have for you.
“Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek.” “Compassion is the radicalism of our time.” “Compassion naturally creates a positive atmosphere, and as a result, you feel peaceful and content.” “Love and compassion are the true religions to me.”
