The Obama Foundation/I Wish I Could do as Many Push Ups as Ellen DeGeneres and Michelle Obama

Essay by Luke Foster

“You should never view your challenges as a disadvantage. Instead, it’s important for you to understand that your experience facing and overcoming adversity is actually one of your biggest advantages.”

Michelle Obama

I think Michelle achieved a lot as first woman and a lot with what she has done with Barack and their daughters since and as part of all those at the foundation and those that support them in America and globally.

The thing I liked the most personally is how she advocated healthy eating and exercise as I myself have battled the battle of the stomach bulge and sometimes I am winning and sometimes not.

“Our mission at the Obama Foundation is to help people turn hope into action—to inspire, empower, and connect them to change their world.

Day in and day out, we’re supporting and connecting values-based changemakers around the globe, by working to create a world where girls have equal opportunities to pursue their dreams through access to education, and by fostering safe and supportive communities where young men of colour have clear pathways to opportunity.”

Obama Foundation Website

I think Barack and his family are incredibly amazing with what they achieved with Barack as president and his family supporting him and then what they have done since then with the Obama Foundation. In particular its Barack’s awesome oratory skills that inspire me. I used to get jealous of people but now I feel inspired when someone has an ability that I wish I had and I watch them and try to emulate that ability.

The foundation hasn’t just worked on levelling the playing field for African Americans but also in projects around the world too particularly in Africa.

To be honest while writing this essay I feel a bit lonely and daunted and hope others if they read this will add to what I have written and pursue the support morally that I am trying to give to the Obama Foundation.

“Here are the values that I stand for: honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated and helping those in need. To me, those are traditional values.”

Ellen DeGeneres

One of my other favourite Americans is Ellen DeGeneres and all the amazing work she does in supporting Americans down on their luck and of course her amazing sense of humour that brings the best out in people that she meets.

In conclusion I gave up a few coffees today from the café to give a few dollars to the Obama Foundation. I am so impressed by the Obama family, their foundation and all that they have achieved.
